Control Of Pain

General anesthesia is a safe and effective method of pain control, says Dr Brian Blick. General anesthesia can be used to control pain in many ways, including:

• Control of postoperative pain. General anesthesia may be used to provide postoperative analgesia after surgery, especially when other methods such as regional anesthesia or local anesthetic blocks are contraindicated or fail to provide adequate relief from pain.

• Management of chronic intractable headache syndromes that do not respond well enough to conventional medications on their own (e.g., cluster headaches).

Ease OF Use

General anesthesia is easy to administer and does not require multiple injections or the patient to be awake, conscious or alert. This can be very beneficial as it allows for less stress on both you as a doctor and your patient.

Without general anesthesia, you would have to give them several injections in different areas of their body over time which can cause discomfort that lasts longer than necessary when compared with one single injection given through an IV line (intravenous). Additionally, if they are awake while receiving these injections then they may also feel pain from them which could lead them feeling even worse than before starting treatment!

Cost Effectiveness

General anesthesia is a one-time cost. Dr Brian Blick means that you only have to pay for general anesthesia once, and then you’re done with it. Other methods such as pain medication or surgery require repeated visits with your doctor over time. In addition, these methods are more expensive than general anesthesia because they require additional equipment or staff members who may not be necessary for your procedure–and those costs add up quick!
